    Sorority Events

Escape rooms are incredibly popular right now. They can be a ton of fun, thrilling, and sometimes even scary! This is also a great way to bond with your sisters - especially at the beginning of the school year.

If you’re not familiar, an escape room is a themed room that a game host locks you in. They’ll give you a clue to the puzzle, which you have to figure out in order to win the game, aka escape the room. Escape rooms are a great way for your sisters to work together and can highlight everyone’s individual strengths.

If your sorority likes to do more physical activities, try hosting an easy team sport and play against each other. Kickball, dodgeball, and flag football are all great ways to get outside and enjoy campus with a healthy sense of competition. These three games don’t require a lot of physical exercise, just a willing spirit. They also have relatively easy rules that aren’t hard to learn for any international students that might be in your sorority.

Afterward, you can order pizza for everyone while you refresh and refuel.

If your sisters are an even more daring bunch who want a little more action, check to see if there are any paintball courses nearby. The team competition will really be on!

If you’re not up for too much action, try having an indoor game night with your sisters. There are plenty of thrilling tabletop games that can be played with teams. Check out the game Cranium, where you and your sisters will work together to solve puzzles or complete timed tasks to win.

Taboo is another exciting team game that you can play with your sisters. Its gameplay involves trying to get your teammate to guess a certain word in a set amount of time. Not only is it exhilarating, but it’s also a ton of fun for your sisters, who love a good challenge.

    Get Crafty

Are your sisters the artistic type? Is there a Pinterest project you’ve been meaning to take on for a while? Try hosting a group craft night!

If you live in a sorority house, you and your sisters could create decorative door signs for your rooms. You could also decorate each other’s doors!

Crafting jewelry doesn’t always need a ton of materials or skills. Most craft stores sell easy-to-make jewelry crafting kits in a variety of options and for a variety of budgets. Jewelry doesn’t always have to be a fancy affair either. Make a

friendship bracelet for one of your sisters, using the clasisc letter beads.

Are the holidays coming up? Create a crafting event centered around making handmade gifts. You’ll put everyone in the holiday spirit, and you can make holiday decorations part of the event, too. These can include garlands, ornaments, and any holiday or winter-themed décor that brings you cheer and brightens the winter season. Don’t forget to dress in style- check out theseholiday tshirt designs.

When hand-making ornaments, you can tailor them to your style for a personal touch and let your creativity shine through. Most craft stores sell blank plastic, wood, or glass ornaments by the case. Ornaments can be painted and decorated in every way imaginable, and you can add glitter, beads, ribbons, or lettering to them. Another great idea is to fill the ornaments. You could even add materials like peacock feathers for a unique look that can be used any time of year.

Another favorite crafty gift is to make “hot cocoa in a jar” kits. It’s super easy and super delicious. If you’re on a budget, all you need to do is get a container of instant hot cocoa from the grocery store and a case of mason jars. Toss it in, throw on a bow, and you’re done! Alternatively, and for a more personal touch, you can make your own cocoa mix. You can find simple recipes online, and all of the ingredients can be purchased at the grocery store, too. It also looks much more interesting and custom-made by layering the sugar, cocoa, and marshmallows in the jar.

    Go Outdoors

When’s the last time you went on a hike? Many sisters’ favorite way to explore the outdoors is with each other. If your campus or local areas have trails, plan an event around exploring them.

If there is a lake or river nearby, consider renting a canoe or inner tubes for a float trip! Canoes that can fit up to three people are great for working together as a team. If you’re feeling like having more of a relaxing trip, opt for the inner tubes. Most outfitters provide transportation to and from the lake or river and will allow you to bring coolers on the trip. It’s always a good idea to call ahead and ask if they offer any sort of group or student discount.

If you’re feeling up for an overnight stay, check out any campgrounds that might be close to your area. Many campuses have an extra-curricular outdoors department that let you check out all of the gear you’ll need (tents, chairs, tables, etc.) for your trip. They will also be able to give you information about where to go, and they can suggest some of the best spots for group camping.

Don’t forget to end your day of adventure with a bonfire! Everyone will enjoy roasting their own hotdogs and cooking their own s’mores after a long, exciting day on the water or in the woods. Have you ever tried using a Reese's Cup instead of a Hershey Bar on your s’more before? We can’t stress enough how much you and your sisters will absolutely love it!

Relaxing around the campfire is a great way to tell and share stories. Bond together around the fire, hanging out and making new friendships.

If the weather is poor, or maybe you’re not the outdoorsy type, try indoor rock climbing. You can keep the theme of the event outdoorsy without actually heading outside. Almost every campus has some sort of indoor rock-climbing wall these days, and they will probably offer free rock-climbing shoe rentals to students.

If you’re in charge of your sisterhood’s next big event, or you’ve just run out of ideas, there are a ton of fun ways on and off campus to host an event that all of your sisters will remember!
