CELEBRITIES WHO ARE IN GREEK LIFE

If you’re currently a member of Greek life, it’s always fun to learn that your favorite celebrity is in that very same boat. Still, it’s probably not all that surprising to make this kind of discovery, considering the off-the-charts ambition and talent of your typical sorority member. A pretty big number of celebs are also proud members of sororities. Maybe they’re even members of the very same sorority you’re a part of!

That being said, here’s a list of celebrities with ties to Greek life.

    1. Lucy Liu, Chi Omega

While she was a student at the University of Michigan, actress Lucy Liu pledged Chi Omega. Lucy then went on to become an iconic member of the Charlie’s Angels cast. If we’re being honest, this action star is definitely one of the coolest sorority sisters out there.

    2. Carrie Underwood, Tri Sigma

As we’re sure you know, Carrie Underwood is easily one of the biggest country-pop icons of all time, a role she’s sat in for a good number of years now. But did you also know that Carrie is a member of Tri Sigma? She pledged with the outstanding organization while she was a student at Northeastern State University.

    3. Farrah Fawcett, Delta Delta Delta

Back when she studied at the University of Texas in Austin, the legend herself, Farrah Fawcett, pledged Delta Delta Delta — AKA Tri Delta. And, of course, Farrah later went on to become a six-time Golden Globe Award nominee, as well as a four-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee. It’s fair to say that she had a pretty incredible acting career, and her start in Tri Delta probably didn’t hurt.

    4. Meghan Markle, Kappa Kappa Gamma

Beloved actress-turned-royal, Meghan Markle, is remembered quite fondly by her peers at Northwestern University. Unsurprisingly, Meghan was described as having a “charitable,” “kind,” and overall “delightful” personality by her sisters at Kappa Kappa Gamma. So, it’s pretty fair to say that Meghan upheld the standards set by her sorority.

    5. Jennifer Garner, Pi Beta Phi

In a WIRED video where Jennifer Garner was tasked with answering the web’s most Googled questions about herself, we were lucky enough to learn that Jennifer is a member of Pi Beta Phi. In fact, she hasn’t even forgotten the chant—definitely some impressive dedication. And, well, just a good memory.

    6. Whitney Port, Kappa Alpha Theta

Back when she was a gender studies major at the University of Southern California, The Hills Star Whitney Port became a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.

    7. Elizabeth Banks, Delta Delta Delta

No doubt in our minds, Tri Delta is a sorority with a huge number of celebrity members (just a few of whom we’ve already mentioned on this list). So, here’s another one—while studying at the University of Pennsylvania, actress Elizabeth Banks joined the burgeoning star-studded sorority. Later on, Elizabeth even claims that she used her sorority girl experience to help inform her work on Pitch Perfect 2.

    8. Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Alpha Epsilon Phi

The late Ruth Bader Ginsburg, popularly known as RBG, was actually a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi. More specifically, she was a part of the organization’s Cornell University chapter. Definitely something that the sorority’s current members can take serious pride in!

    9. Michelle Pfeiffer, Alpha Delta Pi

When she was a student at Golden West College, Michelle Pfeiffer, now a versatile and critically acclaimed actress, rushed Alpha Delta Pi. Just some more evidence that sorority life helps to harness some serious talent.

    10. Sophia Bush, Kappa Kappa Gamma

For one, let’s just establish that Sophia Bush rushed Kappa Kappa Gamma, during her time at the University of Southern California. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, here’s the real kicker: Sophia was even the social chair! Clearly, she was dedicated to Greek life — and of course, we’ve got her back on that one.

    11. Bette Midler, Delta Phi Epsilon

There’s a pretty good chance that you know her best from her starring role in Hocus Pocus, which is definitely a go-to, fan favorite, Halloween themed Disney Channel Original Movie. Still, there’s also a good chance that you didn’t know this: while she was a student at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, Bette Midler actually rushed Delta Phi Epsilon.

    12. Molly Sims, Delta Delta Delta

As it turns out, model and actress Molly Sims is within the ranks of Delta Delta Delta. Molly doesn’t exactly want this to be a secret, of course—she’s spoken a ton about her sorority days, looking fondly back at the relationships she built during that time. Well, that’s definitely understandable, as you’ll find some of the friendliest and most memorable people you’ll ever know through Greek life, we guarantee it.

    13. Kristin Chenoweth, Gamma Phi Beta

Don’t think that Broadway talent is free of sorority ties. One of the biggest in the business, Wicked’s Kristin Chenoweth, became a member of Gamma Phi Beta during her time at Oklahoma City University.

    14. Tory Burch, Kappa Alpha Theta

Not only is designer Tory Burch a member of Kappa Alpha Theta (which she joined as a student at the University of Pennsylvania), but she’s also still super involved in Greek life, even today. In 2018, Tory donated a huge amount of her own merchandise to her sorority, all to be auctioned off for charity. We love to see such a successful woman stay so true to her sorority roots!
